CFP: Auslib Conference 2007 - Learning Futures: public libraries for the new generations in Australia and New Zealand

CFP: Auslib Conference 2007 - Learning Futures: public libraries for the new generations in Australia and New Zealand

March 9-10, 2007
Adelaide, South Australia
CFP URL: http://www.auslib.com.au/Call%20for%20papers.pdf

This second Auslib Adelaide conference will be of special interest to Children’s and Young Adults Librarians, Community Librarians, Library Managers and Councillors and Council staff concerned to foster learning, literacy and support for young people in their communities.

Much important learning for life takes place beyond the confines of the classroom and formal
education. Public libraries have unique ‘cradle to grave’ responsibilities which are still not
understood or recognised by those who allocate funds for education and libraries. Learning
Futures will profile the achievements and potential of public libraries, from both sides of the
Tasman, towards the learning, literacy and socialisation future of the new generations – from very early childhood to young adulthood. The conference will have panel sessions, targeted
recommendations and full published proceedings.
